How does creating a top site list bring traffic to my website?

Other sites that join your list will be placing a voting link on their website. When a visitor clicks that link it brings them to your Top Site List, where they will then select sites from the list to visit. We also suggest that you take advantage of the 'header' field, in the admin area, to place a link to your site, this way your site is advertised before the start of your list.

I have set up my site but it is not showing up in the directory

The site updates every hour at 40 minutes past the hour. It is during these updates that new lists are added in the directory of categories.

I have added my site to a top site list but it is not appearing; how come?

There are a couple of reasons this could be happening. First, if you have just added your site you must wait for the site update, that happens every hour at 40 minutes past the hour, before your site appears in the list. Second, the list owner may have chosen not to display sites that do not have any hits coming in. To fix this you need to place either a voting button or voting text link within your website (voting codes were emailed to you when you joined) . Your site will then show up after a visitor clicks on the voting button and the site update occurs.

The setup asks for a voting banner link. I don't have one made. What should I do?

A voting banner or button, while highly suggested, is not necessary; as a text link will also be provided. If you do not have the ability to make your own voting buttons and banners, then you will find other options for obtaining one listed beside where you would normally enter your banner URL information. This includes free basic voting buttons for your use, as well as a paid service to have custom voting buttons made for you.
